Blackshark 3 Pro Review
The smartphone giant Xiaomi has once again launched another phone. This time its a phone from their gaming department Black Shark. Black Shark is a company being backed by Xiaomi which is known for making gaming phones. The company believes that a gaming phone is not just about the hardware but also the looks, design, and features. This brand is known to manufacture phones with amazing displays, cutting edge designs and specific cooling methods. This brand was the first one to introduce liquid cooling to a smartphone. It is also the first brand to introduce a dedicated image processing chip to a smartphone. The brand is also known for putting dedicated buttons for smartphone gaming on a device. The brand has launched 2 phones till now and they both received a positive response from the consumers. Its 2020 and the company has come out with the successor to their smartphone lineup, the Black Shark 3 and the pro version. Today we will be reviewing the pro version which is yet to release.
Design of Black Shark 3 Pro-
In terms of design, the Black Shark 3 has an Aluminium back and frame and has a glass front which is probably a Gorilla Glass. The phone has the following dimensions – 177.8 x 83.3 x 10.1 mm and is about 253 grams in weight. This is actually pretty heavy if you compare it to smartphones like the iPhone 11 pro. The smartphone still retains the two pop up gaming triggers from the previous year’s model and from the looks of it also has a connector on its back to attach accessories. It has the Tencent Games branding on the bottom of the connector which hints of some probable Tencent gaming mods for the phone in the future. This concept is similar to the moto mods that Motorolla introduced a few years back. The phone supports dual nano sims with one on standby.
Display of Black Shark 3 Pro-
The display on the phone is not the most modern in terms of the design as it has thick bezels on the top and the bottom. This is not that big of a concern as this is a gaming phone. The display is a massive 7.1 inches AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors. The screen has a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels and supports a ton of features. The display has a refresh rate of 90 Hz with 270Hz touch-sensing to keep track of every finger movement. This is the highest touch-sensing to be found in any 2020 flagship performer. The display is an always-on display with 500 nits brightness. This is very less compared to its competitors and outside use is difficult on this phone. The display also supports features like HDR 10+ and DCI-P3.
Blackshark 3 Pro Specs
Since this is a gaming device, the hardware has to be the absolute best. Blackshark has made sure it commits to this. The device has the latest Snapdragon 865 7nm+ chipset. The chipset is octa-core and features the following cores – 1×2.84 GHz Kryo 585 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 585 & 4×1.80 GHz Kryo 585. The chipset has the Adreno 650 GPU to provide the required graphical needs for running those heavy games. The phone comes in 2 variants, one with 8 GB of RAM and another with 12 GB of RAM. The 8 GB variant has an internal storage of 256 GB whereas the one with 12 GB RAM has 512 GB of storage. The device has no dedicated SD card slot. So, memory expansion is out of the question. The internal memory of the phone uses UFS 3.0 technology.
The phone comes with Android 10.0 out of the box.
