Huwaei Mate 30 Pro 5G – The forgotten beast

Huwaei is one of the biggest and oldest technology companies in China. The company is so old that almost each one of us has used a Huwaei product at some point in our lives. It produces many electrical items ranging from modems to wireless dongles. A few years ago, it stepped foot in the smartphone market and got instant success. Huwaei had gained control over huge markets like the United States Of America and was widely accepted there. Recently the company got into some trouble over the privacy of its users. It was being accused of leaking sensitive and confidential data of its users. The US immediately imposed sanctions on Huwaei and the company lost a big market. Huwaei also almost lost its Android license. Everything is normal now but it has affected the company big time.

Huwaei has launched a number of phones in the past year but a lot of those have not got the recognition they deserve. Recently Huwaei launched the Mate 30 Pro 5G. Let’s see how good this phone is.

The device has an OLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors. This means that the pixels will remain switched off when there is a dark color like a Black present on the screen. This means in dark mode, the device can save a lot of battery power. The display is a 6.53-inch display with 94.1% screen to body ratio. The device has a resolution of 1176 x 2400 pixels. The display also supports additional features like HDR 10 and DCI – P3. The device is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 6.

It also has the ability to work as a power bank and reverse charge devices. This feature can be useful to charge your smartwatch. The device has all the basic sensors and also includes some more – Face ID, fingerprint (under display, optical), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, barometer, compass.

Speakers –

The device has a single speaker setup with audio output of 32-bit/384kHz audio. The speakers are very bad on this device when compared to other flagships. It also lacks a 3.5 mm audio jack.

My Verdict –

This phone is surely a good one which somehow got lost in the crowd. I think Huawei should get a second chance with the proper marketing of this phone. The company has definitely skimmed on speakers which is the only drawback of this device. Otherwise, this is a really good phone.
