UNDERDOG OF FLAGSHIPS-SAMSUNG GALAXY S10e
Samsung Galaxy S10
Frustrated over not being able to open your browser to access our site? Is phone not being able to handle the latest update? Embarrassed in public to use your phone’s camera because of the outdated camera? Well, I guess its time to embrace the change. Yes, I am talking about upgrading your phone. Samsung.
2019 has been a great year for the smartphone industry and a number of phones have been launched so far but, this has also lead to some phones not being promoted well enough.
One of these may phone is the Samsung Galaxy S10e. Introduced to the public in March of this year along with its elder siblings the Galaxy S10, S10+ and S10 5G, this phone is still one of the best in its class.
As per the modern standards, Samsung decided to go for the aluminium body and glass once again this year for the S10 lineup. The S10e is no exception and flaunts the same build style as its siblings.
The best thing about this phone is its size.
The phone has the dimensions 142.2 * 69.9 * 7.9 mm.
The device sports a 5.8-inch screen with an 83% screen to body ratio.
This means one can enjoy the flagship-level performance in a small phone rather than getting those huge phones with small displays. The phone is very sturdy as the beautiful back is protected by gorilla glass 5.
The phone is also IP 68 dust and water-resistant which means it can stay underwater up-to 1.5m for about 30 minutes.
Even after having all these perks, the phone just weighs a mere 150g. So you don’t have to worry about carrying a heavy phone around in your pocket or purse.
Display -SAMSUNG GALAXY S10
Being an owner of this impressive device, I can clearly state that the display of this phone is easily the best feature of this phone and is miles ahead of its competitors.
The beautiful 5.8 inches Dynamic AMOLED display sports a resolution of 1080 * 2280 pixels and supports HDR 10+ which allows fine-tuning the brightness of a specific frame of a movie.
The phone also sports an always-on display which will always show you information like date and time even when the display is off.
However, this feature may require extra consumption of your battery so it depends on the user whether he/she wants to turn it on or not.
The thing that makes this phone stand out is the bezel-less display with a hole punch front camera setup which makes the screen look really big. One can also find amazing wallpapers which incorporate the front camera nicely in the picture.
Gaming, watching movies and even daily use seems to be a pleasure on this amazing display.
Platform and Internals -SAMSUNG GALAY S10
Now it is true that Samsung’s touch wiz UI has been an absolute mess because of the presence of a ton of bloatware but Samsung definitely redeemed itself with the launch of the Galaxy S6.
The software has been very smooth and well optimized with the hardware since then and One UI just makes it better.
As I am speaking about this, Samsung GALAXY S10 has already updated some of its phones to One UI 2.0. One UI offers a seamless user experience and looks really modern as per today’s standards.
Samsung has worked hard to remove as many unnecessary apps and bugs as possible and in return has added really useful ones like their virtual assistant Bixby.
Now coming to hardware, this phone comes packed with top of the line hardware such as the Snapdragon 855 processor or an Exynos 9820 chipset depending on the model you own.
The phone comes two storage options,128 GB and 256 GB out of which the latter packs 2 more gigs of ram. The 128 GB storage options come with 6 Gigs of RAM.
The phone has an Adreno 640 or a Mali-G76 MP12 GPU which again depends on your model number. The phone also offers external storage expansion up to 1 TB and also comes with a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
It can handle any task thrown at it with ease.
It pretty much sports the same internals as its siblings, the only difference being the RAM. The phone also scores high on the Geekbench 4 benchmark test with a single-core score of 3508 and a multi-core score of 10864 which is very impressive.
It has a 3100 mAh battery and has a type – C port which supports fast-charging up to 15W. The phone also sports a fingerprint scanner integrated with its power button itself which is very snappy.
The S10e has a dual-lens setup which is arguably one of the best in its class. The primary lens is a 12MP shooter with an aperture of f/1.5-2.4 and supports 26 mm wide view. The secondary lens is a 16 MP shooter with an aperture of f/2.2 and supports 12 mm ultra-wide view.
The camera setup has an LED flash with auto HDR and panorama support. The camera has impressive modes one of which is the night mode which allows you to take brilliant photos even in poor lighting conditions.
The recording department also has a super slow-motion mode which is my personal favourite as it allows you to record a video in 960fps at 720p resolution. The camera also supports 2160p recordings at 30 and 60fps and 1080p at 30,60 and 240 fps.The camera also supports optical image stabilization.
The S10e comes with a single lens front camera unlike the S10 plus which sports a dual setup front camera. The 10MP front camera also takes phenomenal pictures and supports ultra-wide mode.
The rear camera also comes with AI support and a lot can be done just like Apple’s emoji feature.
The Galaxy S10 family is equipped with a stereo speaker setup and the S10e is no exception here. The speakers have been tuned by the famous audio company AKG and the 3.5 mm headphone jack supports features such as The Dolby Atmos sound and active noise cancellation with dedicated mic support. The speakers on this phone are front-firing and offer an incredible sound experience while streaming movies or watching YouTube.
The Galaxy S10e is available in beautiful colours like Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Blue, Canary Yellow, Prism Green and Flamingo Pink. The phone is currently available at a price of about $400 which is indeed a steal.
